APEX Insight: After a successful trial run with portable IFE solution AirFi/TUI Cloud, holiday carrier Arkefly confirmed full roll-out of the program across its fleet by November this year. Hans van de Velde, managing director, Arkefly, reported 2-million TUI Cloud pages were viewed in the first two months of the program and that other TUI Group airlines are considering the same solution.

The AirFi Box will also be deployed fleet-wide to support crew in their daily activities during flight. AirFi may also, at a later stage this year, provide rich and entertaining content for Transavia passengers.

The European Patent Office has confirmed the novelty on the worldwide patent application of MI Airline, dating back to January 2011. This confirmation is the beginning of MI Airline’s worldwide patent deployment.

A worldwide patent application, dating back to January 2011, has been confirmed for publication for software company, MI.Airline, member of the MI.Group based in The Netherlands.


This patent covers flight attendant usage of iPads, tablets or smart devices inflight for internal crew communication, onboard payment processing and ancillary sales.
